Attendance & Dropout Prevention

Regular and punctual attendance is the greatest single factor in school success. Texas Compulsory Attendance Law requires students to attend school regularly, unless otherwise exempted by law. It is the responsibility of the parent and student to cooperate and communicate with the school on all attendance matters. The key to high school graduation is strong school attendance and parental involvement.

Note: For contact information of Attendance/Dropout Prevention specialists, see the staff directory at the bottom of the page.

Leander Extended Opportunity Center (LEO) is Leander ISD’s disciplinary alternative school. LEO serves all grade levels of students (K-12) who commit major offenses or who are involved in a series of less serious offenses. Students are admitted to the LEO Center following a referral by the home campus.

Reporting Prohibited Behavior

Leander ISD is committed to providing a positive learning environment for all students that enhances personal safety and promotes inclusion, dignity and equality among students. High standards are expected for both academic achievement and behavior.

LISD strives to ensure that each and every student and employee are free from bullying, discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, gender-based harassment, dating violence and sexual violence/assault. All reports of these behaviors are taken very seriously by students, faculty, staff, administration and parents/guardians. LISD will make every effort to handle and respond to every charge and complaint filed by students and employees in a fair, thorough and just manner. Every effort will be made to protect the due process rights of all victims and all alleged offenders.

Student Freedom of Speech

Leander ISD embraces opportunities for our students to share their thoughts, feelings and experiences with their friends, family and staff. LISD policies and guidelines direct staff in working with students who desire to communicate their opinions or views. Examples of those policies, which are on the LISD website, include FNA (Legal) and FNA (Local).
