The Leander ISD Board of Trustees has named Chris Clark as acting superintendent following Superintendent Bruce Gearing’s announcement of his resignation. Clark will serve in this role during the superintendent search process, providing continuity in leadership and supporting the district’s ongoing work on behalf of students, staff and families.

Clark currently serves as Leander ISD’s Deputy Superintendent of Learning and Innovation, a role he assumed in 2024 after joining the district in June 2023 as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. In these roles, he has overseen key instructional and academic initiatives across the district, working closely with campus leaders, central office teams and the Board of Trustees to advance student learning and district priorities.

During his tenure in Leander ISD, Clark has led work within the Teaching and Learning department, including the collaborative development and implementation of districtwide strategies in the District Improvement Plan. His leadership has supported efforts such as Accelerated Math Pathways and Professional Learning Communities, as well as stronger alignment between Campus and District Improvement Plans and the district’s Strategic Plan and Community-Based Accountability System.

Prior to joining Leander ISD, Clark served in leadership roles in Frisco ISD, McKinney ISDand Tulsa Public Schools in Oklahoma. His career includes experience as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and managing director of academic programs in Frisco ISD, totaling 30 years of experience in education and nearly two decades in educational leadership.

Clark earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Northeastern State University. He completed a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction and school administration at Oklahoma State University and later earned a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas.

As Acting Superintendent, Clark will lead the district’s day-to-day operations while the Board of Trustees conducts a comprehensive search for Leander ISD’s next permanent superintendent.
