Following the retirement announcement of Superintendent Bruce Gearing, Ed.D., the Leander ISD Board of Trustees has begun the formal process of selecting the next superintendent. December 2025

February 2026

  • Feb. 6, 2026:
    Board announces internal search, opening the application and beginning the community survey. The application and the community survey both close Feb. 25.

March 2026

April 2026

  • April 2, 2026:
    State law requires a 21-day waiting period before the Board may vote to finalize a superintendent contract. The Board plans to vote on the contract at the April 2 regular meeting.

Community Feedback

As part of the search, the Board is gathering community feedback through a survey, providing parents, staff and stakeholders an opportunity to share input. With several significant decisions ahead, the Board intends to move efficiently while still collecting meaningful data and perspectives to inform the final decision. The survey closes Feb. 25.
