Leander ISD is committed to partnering with families and ensuring transparency in student opportunities. In accordance with the Texas Education Code (as amended by Senate Bill 12, 89th Legislature), parents and guardians have the right to direct their child’s participation in school-sponsored clubs and organizations.
Annual Parent/Guardian Consent Required
Students may participate in any campus- or district-sponsored club or organization only with parent/guardian approval each school year.
- Consent is required annually
- Students will not be permitted to enroll in or attend clubs without parent approval
- Parents may update or withdraw consent at any time by contacting their campus
Action Required:
Parents will complete club participation consent during annual student verification or through a campus-provided form.
Access to Club Information
Parents have the right to review information about student clubs before making a decision.
Campuses will provide access to:
- Club name and purpose
- General description of activities
- Name of assigned staff monitor

Role of Staff Monitors
Leander ISD staff assigned to student clubs serve in a supervisory role to support student safety and compliance with district expectations. Staff involvement will align with state law and district policy.
State Requirements
In accordance with Texas law, school districts must ensure that student clubs and organizations:
- Comply with all applicable state and federal laws
- Operate within district guidelines for student activities
- Adhere to requirements regarding student eligibility and participation
