School Modernization & Roof Repairs
Project Scope
Built in 2003, Vista Ridge HS fits the district’s category of a school exceeding 20 years of age and in need of a modernization.
Modernization of an existing facility involves the replacement of major building sub-systems including but not limited to roofing, elevators, air conditioning, lighting, electrical, plumbing, fire protection systems, built-in specialties and equipment, interior finishes and all furnishings that are at the end of the expected service life. Roof repairs will take place in specific sections across the campus to address leaks.
Project Status
- August 2024
Phase I complete and all staff back into their spaces. Phase 2 going well and ahead of schedule. Contractor is working with AirCo to maintain HRU’s until next summer when they’re replaced. Supplemental Temp cooling in admin offices and Library. APT to install bells and paging speakers in portables mid August. - July 2024
Starting to move furniture into the admin area. Paint and new lights are installed and flooring is being installed currently. Phase 1 will be completed in late July and Phase 2 will start in August. - June 2024
The construction phase has started, including the removal of furniture, flooring materials, and general interior demolition. Upcoming activity will include further demolition of interior structures. - February 2024
Planning for six (6) – 6 classroom portables, for a total of 36 classrooms. This will allow the construction to happen year round from June 2024 to August 2026. - December 2023
At the Dec. 14, 2023 Board meeting, Trustees approved Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) #2 for Vista Ridge High School’s modernization project. GMP #2 – in the amount of $40,448,887, for a total GMP of $49,502,875 – is for the construction phase of the project. - The plan is to start construction at the end of May, after school lets out for the summer. During the Construction phase, portables will be added to the campus to allow for work to continue throughout the 2024–25 and 2025–26 school years.
- The project is currently in the Bidding phase.

At the Oct. 26, 2023 Board meeting, Trustees approved Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) #1 for Vista Ridge High School’s modernization project. GMP #1, in the amount of $9,053,988, funded equipment, services or materials that must be secured well in advance and early project startup needs.
Design phase is 100% complete. - August 2023
At the Aug. 24, 2023 Board meeting, Trustees approved the architect and construction manager. - June 2023
Design phase started in full. - July 2022
At the July 21, 2022 Board meeting, Trustees approved Bond Oversight Committee’s recommendation to fund the design of the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system through bond savings.
