Bus route information for eligible riders is available in InfoFinder. Please check this site routinely over the first few weeks of school for routing updates.

The Leander ISD Transportation Department uses SMART Tag – a system that provides accurate, near real-time monitoring of where and when students load onto and unload off of their school bus – to help promote student safety and security, keeping parents, school administrators and the district’s transportation department more informed.

Bus riders are issued a SMART card, which they scan as they get on and off the bus.

SMART Tag Parent Portal

Parents and guardians can go to the SMART Tag Parent Portal and select Register to begin the registration process (this link is only for SMART Tag – Parents must register with their respective campus to receive transportation). Once registered for SMART Tag, parents, and guardians can sign up for SMART Alerts to receive a text message notification 10 to 15 minutes before the bus arrives at their child’s bus stop. While on the bus, the Parent Portal also provides a live map to see the bus’ location in near real-time.

To complete the registration, you will need the following:

  • The campus name of your child
  • Your child’s student ID number
  • Your child’s date of birth

The Transportation Department also uses Remind platform to communicate important updates. Guardians are automatically added to a Remind “class” for their student’s assigned bus route. If you are missing routes, please reach out to us through Let’s Talk.

Please see this help article on removing yourself from this Remind class if you do not wish to receive transportation notifications. This article has information on setting your notifications preferences, allowing you to receive a Remind message as a text, an email, or both.

For additional information about Remind, including getting started tips, please see visit the Remind Support – Students & Parents page.

To ask a question of our Transportation Department, please use this Lets’s Talk form.
