On Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025, Leander ISD Bus #750 crashed on Nameless Road while on its route after school from Bagdad Elementary School. On board were 46 children and the driver.

Status of the Bus Driver

The bus driver Tim Gall was transported to the hospital, treated and released. Gall has been placed on paid administrative leave while the Department of Public Safety conducted an investigation into the accident. DPS released the findings from its investigation, which showed Gall was cited for failure to drive in a single lane and improper use of a seatbelt. He is no longer employed with Leander ISD.

Student and Staff Hospital Update

A total of 17 people were transported to hospitals by Austin-Travis County EMS from the scene and reunification center. As of Thursday, Aug. 14, everyone involved has been released from the hospital.

Letters to Community

In addition, the school and district have been communicating with impacted families directly.

Counseling Services

We know it will take time for our community to process this trauma, and we want our community to know Leander ISD will continue to be here for every student and staff member in need of support. Counselors and social workers continue to be available to support students, staff and families across the district.

Bus Seatbelts

Bus #750 was equipped with seatbelts. As of this fall, all Leander ISD buses on daily routes have seatbelts, thanks to the 2023 Bond, which included 104 new buses to add to the fleet or replace aging buses. All special education buses also have seatbelts.

You can find our bus safety rules and procedures in the Transportation section of our Student & Parent Handbook.

Bus Driver Training

In addition to a Class B CDL (Commercial Driver’s License), all Texas school bus drivers must complete a 20-hour state-mandated certification course with 8-hour refresher courses every three years. All Leander ISD bus drivers are required to stay up-to-date on these requirements.

Leander ISD also holds a yearly in-service. For a more comprehensive look, view the Leander ISD Transportation Training Program.
