Dear Parent/Guardian:

Parents, students, and school personnel play an essential role in students’ educational success and support student attendance. We encourage your child to attend and participate in class by providing meaningful learning experiences—missing school results in missed learning opportunities.

School records indicate that your child has 3 (full and/or partial day) unexcused absences. Absences are excused with proper documentation from a parent/guardian. If you feel an error has been made regarding your child’s attendance documentation, please email or submit appropriate documentation as soon as possible.

In accordance with Texas Education Code 25.095 (b), when a student has been absent from school without an excuse for 3 full or partial days within a four-week period, LISD must inform you that:

  • It is the parent’s duty to monitor the student’s school attendance and require the student to attend school.
  • The student is subject to truancy prevention measures under Section 25.0915.
  • A student’s enrollment may be revoked for the remainder of the year if the student has more than five unexcused absences in a semester and is 19 years or older under Section 25.085.

Additionally, all students must meet 90% daily attendance in each class to be eligible for promotion to the next grade (TEC Section 25.092). Any child in violation of the 90% attendance requirement will be offered the chance to make up missed school hours through activities as deemed appropriate by campus administration. Failure to make up hours missed may result in the loss of academic credit.

Leander ISD has installed an Online Attendance Information Session to prevent further unexcused absences. Please take a few minutes to watch the online session linked below.

If you have questions or need to discuss your student’s attendance, please contact your campus attendance office or administration.
