The wait is finally over!  Following a lengthy public comment window and the consideration of over 450 naming submissions, the Board of Trustees officially named the district’s 27th elementary school and ninth middle school.

Larkspur Elementary will be located in the Larkspur subdivision. Middle School 9 will be named for former Cedar Park High School dance teacher Stacy Danielson, who passed away from cancer last August. It will open in 2020 across from Glenn High School, also in the northern part of the district.

Trustees also approved eSchoolPlus, a product of PowerSchool Group, LLC, as the district’s new system for student grades, attendance, and other data management starting in the 2019-2020 school year.

School districts are required by state, local and federal governments to track student data in compliance with programs and guidelines. A student information system also allows LISD to communicate with families and staff to improve student success. I am excited about the improved functionality the new system will offer. This will result in increased productivity for staff and a much better user experience for teachers, parents and students.

As we look ahead to an exciting 2019, I hope you are able to take time to reflect on the achievement and excellence LISD students attained this past year. I wish you the very happiest of holiday seasons, safe travels and a wonderful winter break.
