Leander ISD Superintendent Dan Troxell, Ph.D., announced Dr. Davina Stringer as the new principal of Winkley Elementary School on Thursday, April 18.

“I am excited to welcome Dr. Davina Stringer as the new principal for Winkley Elementary for the 2019–20 school year,” Troxell said. “Davina is a strong instructional leader who is dedicated to creating systems that ensure growth for every student. She believes in supporting achievement for all by creating and maintaining partnerships with parents, teachers, and community members. I am confident she will maintain the strong culture of excellence established at Winkley.”

Dr. Stringer began her full-time career in Texas public education in 2009 as special education paraprofessional in Lake Travis ISD, later teaching fourth grade in that district before joining Leander ISD in the same capacity at Knowles Elementary School. She has served as an assistant principal at Knowles and then Winkley since 2015.

“What an honor it is to be the next principal of Winkley Elementary School!” Stringer said. “As a proud Wolverine, I look forward to continued academic and social-emotional growth for our incredible students. The educators and staff at Winkley continuously inspire me with their dedication and professionalism. Winkley families are equally inspirational through their high levels of support and partnership. As we all continue to partner utilizing the phenomenal resources that we are privileged to have in LISD, I look forward to leading the innovation of excellence for student success.”

Dr. Stringer earned her bachelor’s degree from Azusa Pacific University, her master’s degree from Concordia University and her doctorate degree from Texas A&M University.
