Times & Schedules

Morning Teacher-led Summer School

Morning sessions are taught by a classroom teacher and can be taken for first-time, original credit or for credit recovery. Not all courses are available for first-time, original credit.

SESSION 1:  Wednesday, June 12 – Friday, June 28; 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., Monday – Friday (Note: This session starts on a Wednesday.)

SESSION 2: Wednesday, July 10 – Friday, July 26; 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., Monday – Friday (Note: This session starts on a Wednesday.)

Cost: $185 per session for in-district students, $225 for out of district students, In-District Transportation $60 per session

Online Afternoon Summer School (Current LISD students only)

Online afternoon credit recovery is for recovery only. It is self-paced in a computer lab with a teacher monitor.

Session 1: June 12 – June 27; 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday–Thursday (Note: This session starts on a Wednesday and ends on a Thursday.)

Session 2: July 10 – July 25; 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday–Thursday (Note: This session starts on a Wednesday and ends on a Thursday.)

Registration Information

All students who wish to attend summer school must meet with their counselor for course selection and approval prior to registering. If the semester has ended and you have not met with a counselor, registration dates will be held in the Rouse High School library as indicated below. Counselors will be available to assist you as well as Spanish speaking assistance if needed. You may pay with cash or credit card at the on-site sessions.

Online registration is open daily until the first day of class on Wednesday, July 10. In person registration is available Tuesday, July 9, from 9 a.m. – noon and on Wednesday, July 10, at the Rouse High School library.

High School Courses Offered

If a student is taking a year-long course for first-time, original credit, they will need to sign up for both summer school sessions.

Math: Algebra I, Geometry, Math Models, Algebra II and Pre-Calculus*
English: English I*, English II*, English III and English IV
Science: Biology*, IPC, Environmental Systems, Chemistry* and Physics*
Social Studies: World Geography, World History, US History*, Government and Economics
Electives: Spanish I & II

*Courses with an asterisk can be taken for credit recovery only and not for first-time, original credit.

Note: No transportation provided for Online Afternoon Credit Recovery. Please be at your bus stop 5 minutes before the pick-up time. During the summer, we do not pick up at each home, but there are stops throughout the district. Please go to the stop closest to your home. Buses return to these morning stops after summer school ends. If you have questions, please contact transportation at 512-570-0700.


With limited days per session, attendance is extremely important. Please plan to attend every day of summer school.

  • Students will be dropped from the course on the third absence without a refund; no exceptions.
  • Three tardies equal one absence.
  • Students may not miss a final exam or take it early; no exceptions.
  • There are no additional allotted excused absences beyond the first two, including illnesses and/or court appearances. Please plan accordingly.

Code of Conduct

All policies/procedures stated in the LISD current Student and Parent Handbook are in effect during summer school. Any major infraction, i.e. tobacco, alcohol, drug infractions, etc., will result in immediate disciplinary action, which may include removal. No refunds will be given.

Middle School Summer School

For Course Recovery

Students who will be attending middle school for academic reasons will be contacted and scheduled by their middle school counselor.

For first-time, original credit (acceleration)

  • 8th graders entering high school may take the following for acceleration: Algebra I, World Geography, Spanish I or Spanish II.
  • These courses will count toward a student’s high school GPA and are not offered at the pre-AP level.
  • Students register using the high school registration process at the top of the page

Additional Information

  • High School is open to in-district and out-of-district students.
  • Courses being offered is dependent upon registration. Classes may be cancelled for low enrollment and in that case, full refunds will be issued.
  • Registration is open until summer school begins or until the classes are full.
  • Approval from your current campus guidance counselor is required prior to registration.
  • ALL courses taken for high school credit WILL COUNT towards the student's high school GPA.
  • Pre-AP and AP courses are not offered in summer school.
  • Please select courses carefully as there are NO REFUNDS.
