Tuition-Based PreK

Who is eligible for the tuition-based PreK program?

Children who are four years old on or before Sept. 1st of the current school year and who do not qualify for the free, state-supported PreK program are eligible to enroll in the tuition-based PreK program.

What are the benefits of the tuition-based PreK Program?

  • Certified teachers in every classroom specifically trained to work with young children;
  • PreK for 4-year-olds follows the regular elementary school schedule;
  • Child-centered, hands-on learning;
  • Focused on developing children academically, physically, and socially.

What is the cost of the tuition-based PreK program?

Where will my child attend PreK?

Tuition-based PreK is offered at a limited number of elementary campuses. The number of spaces available for tuition-based PreK students depends on the enrollment of eligible PreK students. PreK Community campuses for the 2021-2022 school year that may have spaces for tuition-based PreK include (not all campuses will have tuition spaces, they may have spaces): Bagdad

  • Bush (monolingual PreK)
  • Bush (two-way dual language PreK)
  • Camacho
  • Cox
  • Cypress
  • Deer Creek
  • Faubion
  • Giddens
  • Grandview Hills
  • Knowles
  • Larkspur
  • Naumann
  • Plain
  • Pleasant Hill
  • Tarvin

How do I start the registration process?

To be considered for the PreK tuition program, families must complete the online enrollment forms for PreK. The Early Childhood Community registrar will determine that the child does not qualify for free PreK. At that time, the district will send the family a Tuition-based PreK Interest Application Form and program handbook.

If there are more interested families than there are spaces available across the district, a random selection process will be conducted.

After the random selection process, PreK tuition forms will continue to be accepted. Students will be accepted or placed on a waitlist based on availability. Acceptance and waitlist emails and phone calls will be placed by the end of May and again by the end of July.

How will I know where tuition PreK is available?

When a child’s name is randomly selected for a space in tuition-based PreK, a district employee will call the family to let them know which campus has a space available. A family may choose to accept or decline. If the campus available is the family’s home zoned campus, the child may use district transportation. If the campus available is not the family’s home zoned campus, however, families must provide their own transportation.

If the family wishes to keep the child at the same campus for kindergarten, they must complete a transfer application. If the campus is closed to transfers, the child will return to their home zoned campus for kindergarten.
