School Health Advisory Committee

Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child

What is SHAC?

The committee is made up of school personnel, community members and parents. One of the duties of the SHAC is to recommend a coordinated health program for elementary and middle school students.

Upon recommendation of the SHAC, Leander ISD adopted the Coordinated Approach to Child Health (CATCH) program. CATCH is a scientifically research based program that has shown positive results.

Leander ISD is committed to having a safe and healthy environment for students, families and staff. By addressing nutrition, physical activity, health education and substance abuse prevention in a variety of ways and to a variety of audiences, we hope to raise the awareness levels and the skills for all to live a healthy life.
