Board set to finalize zoning option for Elementary School #27

In August 2019, the district is set to open Elementary School 27 in the Larkspur subdivision off U.S. 183, north of the South San Gabriel River in Liberty Hill. In considering zoning options, LISD focused on Scenario B to relieve crowding at Plain Elementary and minimize the potential for families facing multiple rezonings. The Board could take action to approve this zoning change during its March 22 meeting.

LISD to consider federal waiver for flexibility in Title I funding

To provide better support for schools with high economically disadvantaged student populations, LISD presented the Ed-Flex Schoolwide Eligibility Waiver program, which would allow the district to double the amount of schools its serves with schoolwide, Title I funding. Currently, LISD serves as many as nine schools through targeted assistance and five though schoolwide funding. Through the waiver, the district could serve 10 schools with schoolwide funding, giving schools with higher than 30 percent economically disadvantaged student populations more funding and flexibility for using the funds to benefit students. The Board could approve the waiver during its March 22 meeting.
