Board discusses calendar options for 2018–19 school year

LISD administration utilized several teacher, community and parent committees to provide feedback in developing calendar options for the 2018–19 school year. The Board discussed a pair of calendar options presented by district staff. The two recommended options included a District of Innovation sample and a non-DoI sample. The Board could formally adopt a calendar for 2018–19 later this month or early in March.

Board considers criteria for student-school transfers

The Board discussed the list of campuses that could be open for transfers for the 2018–19 school year. The District considers building size, teacher ratios, and grade level sizes when assessing transfer plausibility. The transfer window will open Monday, Feb. 19. District reviews pair of zoning options for Elementary School #27

The District presented options for Elementary #27, scheduled to open in August 2019. In the two scenarios, LISD could zone families from three to five neighborhoods at Plain Elementary and one in Pleasant Hill Elementary to the new school, located in the Larkspur subdivision off 183 and north of the South San Gabriel River in Liberty Hill. LISD will solicit public feedback, consider adjustments, and present to Board for further discussion and action.
