Student Support Services

Mission Statement: Student Support Services empowers students to overcome challenges, focus on learning and graduate.

Student Support Services is comprised of two main areas.
1. Student Management
2. Attendance/Dropout Prevention

Student Support Services also includes the supervision and support of other areas: Leander Extended Opportunity Center (LEO) and the Title IX Coordinator.

Student Management

Student Support

Student Discipline

  • Update and maintain the district’s Student and Parent Handbook
  • Conduct expulsion hearings (to LEO and JJAEP)
  • Oversee the contraband canine program
  • Facilitate the placement of students to LEO
  • Interpretation of legal cases involving student discipline, bullying, dating violence, searches and sexual harassment
  • Process police reports
  • Interpret the Student Code of Conduct (includes  Dress Code )
  • Act as liaison between the LISD and the JJAEP

Parent-related Issues

  • Assist parents with concerns, complaints and appeals
  • Advise parents on student management related legal issues

Assistant Principals

  • Provide training and consultation to school administrators on student management related issues
  • Facilitate monthly meetings

Attendance/Dropout Prevention
Mission Statement:
Support students, families and schools by removing barriers and promoting school attendance to ensure graduation for ALL.

  • Work with parents, students and campus staff to improve student attendance
  • Facilitate campus HOPE Meetings
  • Conduct Level 3 interviews
  • Represent LISD in the court system for attendance violations
  • Provide training and guidance for campus and district stake-holders
  • Serve as the community liaison for attendance and dropout issues
  • Connect students with additional dropout prevention resources within the district and community

Other Areas of Support
Title IX Coordinator:

  • Bryan Miller serves as the Title IX coordinator for the district.

LEO Program:

  • Support LEO staff in the education of student.
  • Dis-aggregate data to ensure consistency across the district with placements at LEO.
  • Serve in an advisory role in working with the LEO staff.
