The elementary curriculum provides the framework for instruction in Leander ISD. It promotes understanding, facilitates the transfer of knowledge to new and different settings and supports differentiation to meet the needs of all students.

The curriculum is comprised of Essential Units of Study, which are based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), the state standards. The Essential Units of Study are organized into nine-weeks periods.

For an overview of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies for each grade level, select the corresponding grade level below. The Essential Units of Study are designed to ensure that every LISD student, regardless of campus or teacher, receives the same high quality curriculum. In alignment with the Leander ISD Learning Model, the priority is to focus on student learning.

Science Materials Center

The Science Materials Center helps bring the Elementary Science Curriculum to life. Its staff and crew of volunteers refurbish all of the kits of materials – packed full of interactive experiences for students – that are sent to elementary campuses at the end of each nine weeks.

This ensures that every teacher gets all of the materials they need in order to implement the district’s science curriculum.
