Throughout Leander ISD, campuses will be hosting assemblies to honor veterans. Please contact the specific campus with any questions.

Additionally, the district will celebrate veterans at the end of the week with a photo gallery made up of submissions from the community. If you'd like to share a picture of a veteran with whom you are close, please use the following link: Veteran Photo Submission Form

Thursday, Nov. 9:
  • Leander High School, at 9:15 a.m. in the Don Tew PAC: There will be an assembly with multiple student groups performing and guest speakers.
  • Grandview Hills Elementary School, 6 p.m. in the MPR: The 4th and 5th Grade Music Program with a Patriotic/Veterans Day Theme.
  • Reagan Elementary School, 6 p.m. in the MPR: Annual 4th grade performance through Reagan Performing Arts.
Friday, Nov. 10:
  • Pleasant Hill Elementary School, 7:20 a.m. in the cafeteria: There will be a breakfast and a choir performance, along with performances by the Rouse High School and Wiley Middle School bands.
  • Wiley Middle School, 7:30 a.m. in the competition gym: Breakfast with veterans, with a choir and band performance. Parents and students are asked to RSVP.
  • Faubion Elementary School, 7:45 a.m.: An assembly honoring veterans.
  • Steiner Ranch Elementary School, 7:45 a.m. in the MPR: Inviting active-duty and veteran service members in students' immediate and extended families to attend the all-school assembly, which will feature student performances along with other festivities.
  • Westside Elementary School, 7:45 a.m. in the MPR: Students will sing a few songs and veterans that are visiting will get to participate in a "mini parade" in the MPR with their student.
  • Mason Elementary School 7:50 a.m. in the MPR: Assembly with community and students led by 4th grade and specials team.
  • Akin Elementary School, 8 a.m.: Assembly honoring veterans.
  • Block House Creek Elementary School, at 8 a.m. in the MPR: Patriotic ceremony celebrating America's best, including pledges, national anthem, guest speaker and Beartones Choir.
  • Whitestone Elementary School, 8 a.m.: Assembly honoring veterans.
  • Winkley Elementary School, 8 a.m.: An all-student assembly to recognize the parents and family members who are veterans.
  • Laura Welch Bush Elementary School, 8 a.m. in the MPR: The LWBE third graders will be presenting a Veterans Day program, honoring those who have served and are serving in the military. Family members and neighbors who have served are invited to attend to honor their service. There will also be a breakfast served beginning at 7:15 a.m. for $2.00 in the cafeteria.
  • Whitestone Elementary School, 8 a.m.: Campus assembly to recognize family members that are veterans along with a few student groups singing a few patriotic songs.
  • River Place Elementary, 9 a.m. (3rd-5th grade) and 1 p.m. (Kinder-2nd grade): Student performances to honor veterans.
  • Vista Ridge High School, 9 a.m.: Assembly honoring veterans will be part of the school's pep rally.
  • Running Brushy Middle School, morning in the library: RBMS veteran family members are invited to stop in to start their day with some coffee, doughnuts and fellowship.
  • Stiles Middle School, large gym: An assembly honoring veterans. Students, parents and staff are encouraged to fill out a form to provide specific information about a family member they would like to be acknowledged for their service. It occurs in the morning and is a schoolwide event that all students attend.
  • Reed Elementary, at 10 a.m. (Kinder-2nd grade) and at 10:30 (3rd-5th grade) in the MPR: An assembly honoring veterans
  • Cedar Park High School, at 10:10 a.m. in the courtyard: Silver TAPS ceremony in courtyard during DEN (10:10-10:30). All students and staff will be in the courtyard for a short ceremony to honor veterans.
  • Naumann Elementary School, 10:30 a.m.: Singing, acknowledgement of Veterans, student poems and speakers performed by all 4th-graders.

  • Rouse High School, 11:30 a.m.: Veterans Day ceremony, including student performances and a guest speaker.
  • New Hope High School, 12:20 p.m.: A brief video will be shown about the origin of Veterans Day and complete two activities to honor and say thank you to our veterans. First, we honor a veteran we know by writing their name on yellow stars and creating a display of honor on the school's front windows. Second, we take the opportunity to write a thank you note to veterans and send them to the VA hospital in San Antonio to brighten their day.
  • Plain Elementary School, 1:30 p.m. in the MPR: Veterans are invited to the Thanksgiving Luncheon and then a Veterans Day Performance with music and speaking parts performed by students.
  • Canyon Ridge Middle School, 3 p.m.: Student performances by the CRMS Honor Band, Tenor/Bass Choir and Varsity Girls Choir, along with readings of winning "America's Gift to my Generation" essays.
  • Four Points Middle School at 3:30 p.m.: An assembly honoring veterans.
  • Cox Elementary School, gym: There will be a program presented by the choir and student council. Veterans from the community are invited. We celebrate their service. We have a parent(s) and teacher veterans address the students. Students honor them with cards. The scouts perform the flag presentation, and a VRHS high school band student plays Taps.
  • Cypress Elementary School, MPR: Student performances and recognitions of veterans.
  • River Ridge Elementary School: The student body will perform songs to veterans. Each grade level will perform a song, and the whole student body will sing the National Anthem together. This is a very special time for students and veterans.
Thursday, Nov. 16:
  • Rutledge Elementary School, cafeteria: Veterans are invited to dine with us on this day, when they will be recognized during the lunch by reading their service information over the speaker and taking pictures with them and their children/grandchildren.
