Leander ISD Superintendent Bruce Gearing, Ed.D., announced that 88 LISD seniors are National Merit Commended Students and 46 are recognized as National Hispanic Scholars by the College Board.

“It is a true pleasure to congratulate these deserving, hard-working students,”Gearing said. “To be recognized in this way reflects a strong commitment to scholastic excellence, as well as the outstanding contributions of their dedicated teachers and families.”

Approximately 34,0000 students throughout the nation received Letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise. PSAT/NMSQT participants who scored at or above the Commended Student Selection Index score, but below the state’s Semifinalist Selection Index score are Commended Students.
