Board approves across-the-board raise for LISD employees

LISD employees will see more money in their paychecks and employer contributions towards their health care benefits next school year. The Board approved a study by LISD staff recommending a 2 percent, across-the-board salary increase for district employees, as well as an increase in the district’s contribution towards health insurance to $330 per employee per month. While LISD will add $1,000,000 to support employee health benefits, the additional funding will only help offset the annual health care inflation costs. Employees will most likely still see higher premiums for 2018–19 as a result of significant high-cost claims and rising health care costs across the state. The compensation proposal also calls for additional salary increases for some auxiliary and paraprofessionals positions to remain competitive in the local market.

LISD budget update allows for capital outlay for fine arts, campus needs

The LISD Board approved a capital outlay of more than $142,000 to address campus needs, including fine arts  requests.

Board reviews update on implementation of new student information system

To keep pace with the needs of a growing district, LISD is changing student information systems for the 2018–19 school year. A Student Information System (SIS) allows Leander ISD to effectively and efficiently manage student data. School districts are required by state, local and federal governments to track student data in compliance with programs and guidelines. In 2017, the Board of Trustees approved the purchase of a new Student Information System, named Infinite Campus, for use in Leander ISD. This presentation provides a brief report on the implementation of the student information system for use in the 2018–19 school year.

***UPDATE*** As Leander ISD prepares to implement a new student information system (SIS) for our staff, students and families, we are focused on ensuring each component of the SIS has been thoroughly reviewed, tested and validated.

In planning for this implementation, it has come to our attention that additional time is needed to  be needed to develop the product to fully meet the state reporting requirements. Therefore, we have decided to delay the “go live” implementation date of the new student information system, originally scheduled for July 30, 2018.

We will continue to use our current system, iTCCS, until we have confirmed a new implementation date.
