Superintendent Dan Troxell, Ph.D., announced that Corey Ryan will be joining Leander ISD as the Chief Communications Officer to lead the School/Community Relations department.

“On behalf of the LISD, please join me in welcoming Mr. Ryan to this important role,” Troxell said. “Mr. Ryan’s reputation for open, honest and transparent communications, as well as his passion for advocating for public schools, is well known throughout state. I am confident that with his experience and expertise LISD will further enhance its systems and processes for excellent communications and community engagement.”

The LISD School/Community Relations department includes communications, media relations, partnerships, volunteers, mentoring, after-school enrichment, advertising and trademarking/licensing. It also supports the Leander ISD Educational Excellence Foundation.

"I am humbled by the opportunity to join the Leander ISD team and serve this growing school district," Ryan said. "I live in this community, and my son will attend our schools. I'm excited to contribute and collaborate on this talented team."

Ryan is joining LISD after serving Round Rock ISD for three years, most recently as the Executive Director of Communications and Community Relations, where he oversaw the district's media relations, emergency communications, social media, marketing, video and partnerships programs. He has worked in public relations and marketing for more than seven years in Texas public schools. Before that, he worked as an award-winning reporter in Ohio and Texas.

Ryan holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Texas Pan-American and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Ohio University.
