LISD Announces New Chief Academic Officer

Leander ISD Superintendent Dan Troxell, Ph.D., announced his appointment of Matthew Roth Bentz, Ed.D., as the district’s Chief Academic Officer to oversee the Teaching & Learning department.

“I am pleased to welcome Dr. Bentz to LISD,” Troxell said. “Throughout his career, Dr. Bentz has proven to be a leader focused on helping improve learning.”

Bentz began his career in education as a teacher at Machan Elementary School in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1994. He later became the school’s student advisor and then the assistant principal for four years. In 2009, Bentz took on the role of athletic director for Agua Fria High School in Avondale, Arizona, then served as principal of Agua Fria High School for five years. Most recently, Bentz was the assistant superintendent for educational services at the Agua Fria Union High School District in Avondale.

Bentz earned a doctorate in education from Arizona State University, along with a master’s and bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University.
