Attendance Zoning, 2020–21

Attendance Zoning, 2020–21

The Leander ISD Board of Trustees is reviewing attendance zones for the 2020–21 school year and the opening of Danielson Middle School (1061 Collaborative Way, Leander, TX).

Each October, Leander ISD receives an annual demographic update from Population and Survey Analysts (PASA). By studying student residential locations, potential growth and decline, housing trends, and economic factors inherent to the district, PASA laid out the expected long‐term trends for the district, and created a dataset to use in planning for the next 10 years.

Process

The Board process is as follows:

  1. District staff develop possible attendance zoning scenarios and present them to the Board of Trustees at consecutive scheduled meetings.
  2. Board recommends a scenario to be presented to the community for feedback.
  3. Staff presents the recommended scenario to the community at least two public feedback meetings.
  4. Staff summarizes feedback and presents to the Board for review.
  5. Board reviews feedback.
  6. The staff makes the necessary adjustments and presents to the Board.
  7. Board adopts zoning that will take effect the year the school opens.

The Board will evaluate the presented scenarios, taking into consideration the necessary criteria and feedback from the public/community. Upon completion of this process, the Board will adopt the middle school attendance zones.
