Melayna Lopez-VRHS

Leander ISD is proud to announce Melayna Lopez from Vista Ridge High School as the Student-Athlete of the Week. Melayna is an 11th grade member of the Lady Ranger Varsity Softball Team. She is a three year Varsity starter, and is currently leading the team in batting average, hitting .559. In the recent Bi-District Playoff series she went 6-10 with 2 home runs, 5 RBIs, and 4 Runs scored in three games. Melayna is a part of the Lady Ranger Softball Leadership team and is recognized by her peers as a selfless leader.


In addition to her contributions to the Lady Ranger Softball Team, Melayna is a member of Rangers Against Destructive Decisions and Be Real, a Vista Ridge High School leadership organization. Vista Ridge Head Softball Coach Lauren Myrick says, “Melayna is a leader on and off the field at Vista Ridge. She is respected by her peers and teammates for her hard work, positive attitude, and the way she leads by lifting up those around her. She has the nickname “Meltuve”, as she is the epitome of Lady Ranger Softball’s philosophy of respect and excellence.”
