Student Transfers for 2013-14 School Year

2013-2014 School Year
Beginning September 1, 2011, all STUDENT TRANSFER applicants will be assessed a $30 processing fee, which must be paid prior to review of the transfer application. This fee is non-refundable and does not guarantee approval to attend the requested campus.  The processing fee of $30 does not apply when the child’s mandatory program does not operate on the child’s home campus, and will be noted as a “Program” transfer.  Any transfer application noted as a “Program” transfer must be approved by the appropriate department.

All approved high school transfers remain in effect for the duration of a student’s high school career, unless the transfer is revoked for failure to remain in good standing, or because the student is no longer participating in an eligible “Program” transfer. Students who have, in a previous year, been approved to attend a high school campus other than the one for which they are zoned, and whose transfer has NOT been revoked, do NOT need to apply for a transfer to continue attending that campus.

The following transfer applications need to be submitted manually:
    • Pre-K, PSLP, English Language Learners, ESLE, LEIP
    • Students moving into the district within 60 days (move-in date and proof of residency must be provided)
    • Students moving within Leander ISD to another school zone (move-in date and proof of residency must be provided)
    • Resident students who move out of the district during the school year may continue to the end of the current semester only.
    • LISD employee children that are new to the district (campus assignment will depend on space and staffing availability)

All other student transfer applications must be submitted on-line, along with payment via credit card.  Individuals who wish to pay cash, need to bring exact change, a certified or cashier’s check, or money order, to the campus being requested, and the on-line form will need to be completed at that time.

Students must be enrolled in Leander ISD prior to the submission of a transfer request.  The student must enroll at the campus he/she is zoned to attend.

Schools will be open to accept student transfers on a SPACE AND STAFFING AVAILABLE basis. Space availability will be evaluated in each grade level/program and transfers approved based on this evaluation. Parents should be aware that the transfer request will not be approved if additional staff or classrooms are needed to accommodate the transfer student. There are NO guarantees that children who transfer in will be able to continue at the requested campus in future school years.

Please note: Campuses on a moratorium (closed campuses) are NOT open to additional transfers. If you move forward with applying for consideration, the processing fee is NOT refundable.

Students must remain in good standing in attendance, behavior, grade and tardies or transfer may be revoked.

All other transfer requests are approved on an annual basis and will be subject to space and staffing availability. Please take this into consideration when applying for a transfer. It is important to consider that your child may not be able to continue in the feeder pattern of a school he/she transfers into, since every school and grade level is evaluated every year.

Example: If you have two or more children, one may be accepted as a transfer student into an open school for this year because space is available in his/her grade level. However, a sibling’s transfer may be denied because space is not available in his/her grade level.
