Brothers Ryan, a Leander High School graduate, and Jared Schneider, a LHS senior, were honored at the Thursday, Nov. 17 Leander ISD Board meeting at Cedar Park MS for demonstrating heroism when they saved a family and their home from a fire that broke out in the early morning hours of a Saturday back in October.

Upon discovering that the deck of a home was on fire, Ryan and Jared acted quickly and pounded on the family’s door for several minutes before waking the residents. Jared then ran through the house with the homeowner to help get the rest of the family to safety.

Their quick actions got the family out of harm’s way, saved the house and likely prevented another wildfire breakout in the LISD area.
