Leander ISD community services department is proud to announce a pilot after-school enrichment program at several of the district campuses this fall. As a pilot program we are limiting the campuses and classes that will be offered in order to assess the value and success of the process.

One of the benefits of providing an after-school enrichment program is to provide targeting learning opportunities and specific interest areas for students with various needs throughout the district. The purpose of these classes and programs is to provide LISD students with opportunities to learn and foster active participation in our community’s future.

Call for attendance boundary committee members
posted: August 23, 2010
LISD is currently forming a parent/citizen advisory committee to assist in developing recommendations to the Board for elementary, middle school, and high school attendance boundaries for the 2011-2012 and subsequent school years. We need parents and community members from all areas of LISD to participate, since these recommendations could impact the entire district.

Membership selection will consider factors such as broad geographic representation, appropriate grade level representation and any special expertise or school involvement activities of the self-nominees. Read more about this process and details about meetings.

1-BTSFair.jpg Supplies Given to More than 1,650 LISD Students
posted: August 18, 2010
Leander ISD, in partnership with Hill Country Bible Church and For the Children, handed out more than 1,650 backpacks loaded with basic school supplies to eligible pre-K – 5th grade students at the district’s back-to-school fair on Saturday, Aug.14.

The first-time event gave LISD families an opportunity to learn more about district programs, as well as receive free immunizations and pick up school supplies before the new school year kicks off on Monday, Aug. 23. In addition, more than 100 students took advantage of the free immunization clinic and visited the PTA Clothes Closet in order to start the year off on the right foot.

Leander ISD thanks our partners – Hill Country Bible Church, For the Children and Chick-fil-A – for making the event a success, as well as the many volunteers who helped distribute the supplies and deliver smiles to our students.

Extra supplies and backpacks were delivered to LISD elementary campuses this week for those eligible students that could not make the event on Saturday. Please check with your child’s counselor and/or front office for more information.
