Transportation Department

http://www.leanderisd.org/users/0001/images/stock/buses.jpg
Transportation is available for Leander ISD children who live two miles or more from their assigned school.

Leander ISD’s walk-to-stop policy has set up bus stops so that elementary students have to walk a maximum of two long blocks (or two-tenths a mile) to their stop, while secondary students are required to walk a maximum of five-tenths a mile (or five long blocks) to their bus stop. If you consider that we do not transport students living inside a two-mile radius of our schools, you see that this walk-to-stop policy is only asking that elementary students walk one-tenth as far to bus stops as we ask many LISD students to walk back and forth to school each day. The result is fewer buses returning to campuses at less than capacity due to time constraints – and this saves important taxpayer dollars. (Please note that bus routes for special needs students will operate as they have in past years.)

Leander ISD’s TransFinder software allows LISD parents to get information on their students’ bus stop locations and times by simply entering their street address and the student’s grade level. TransFinder will then give you a map showing your child’s assigned elementary or secondary bus stop.
Lost and Found Items
If your student has lost or found an item on the bus please have them inform their bus driver. Drivers are asked to maintain a log of any items that are lost or found on their buses. Parents may also contact the Transportation office at 512-570-0700.
