Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

PTA Mission
PTA is...a powerful voice for all children, a relevant resource for families and communities, and a strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child.

PTA Vision
Making every child's potential a reality.

What is PTA and Why is it Important?

PTA is a grassroots organization made up of parents, teachers and others around the state who have a special interest in children, families and schools. PTA membership is as diverse as Texas is in cultures, education levels and parenting skills. By joining a PTA, a member automatically becomes part of the largest child-advocacy organization in the state — over 630,000 strong across Texas.

Studies have proven that membership in PTA provides your child and other children around you with a greater chance of achieving in school. As a PTA member, you are more likely to be an informed, involved parent. More than ever, it is important for parents to learn ways to keep children safe, trouble free and involved in school. PTA is the best place to gain that knowledge.

PTA Clothes Closet Helps Leander ISD Families
LISD Council of PTAs Clothes Closet is for you… for the families of LISD. The Clothes Closet is a service program supported by the generous donations of businesses or individuals from our community and LISD school PTA drives.

The Clothes Closet operates by friendly, helpful LISD PTA volunteers. The Purpose of the Clothes Closet is to provide appropriate gently worn, clean, school clothing as well as brand new socks and underwear, to students in need ages 4-18 or pre-K thru high school.

Families are allotted 10 outfits per child, 5 tops, 5 bottoms, 5 new pairs of underwear and 5 new pairs of socks per semester. Per school year, each student may receive 2 sweatshirts or sweaters, 1 coat and 1 jacket at no cost. Families do not have to pre-qualify, simply stop by your child’s school Nurse clinic to request and obtain a voucher or you may call the school Nurse directly to request the voucher over the phone. Voucher is good for current school year.

The Clothes Closet is located in a portable building near 300 S. West Drive in Leander TX, 78641 across from the Technology Center, just north of Leander Middle School. During the school year, hours of operation are Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to noon, and one Saturday each month, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. It is closed on school holidays and bad weather days.

*Donations are accepted during hours of operation. For volunteer opportunities, please contact your school PTA Clothes Closet Chair.
