Dr. Champion’s October 9, 2008 Superintendent’s Community Forum featured his first “State of the District” report – which included considerable data highlighting LISD’s continued focus on student achievement, and on producing college- and career-ready graduates. He also talked about LISD’s focus on the whole student, and on doing right and good by all. And, he further shared places where LISD needs to strengthen its efforts if our district wants to achieve its long-term goal of being the best-possible school district for this community’s children.
Champion’s presentation concluded with a vision of the kind of learning environment he believes Leander ISD can be ten years from now.
“Ten Years From Now in Leander ISD,” Champion said, …
- Students will exit our system with the same passion for and joy in learning they had they entered, having achieved high academics and built strong character, without economics determining success.
- We will focus on the whole student, ensuring every student is healthy, safe, engaged, supported and challenged.
- All interactions will be guided by an unwavering commitment to do right and good by all who come in contact with us (and all means all).
- Teaching will be personalized for students through differentiated instruction.
- Strong and consistent strategic partnerships, communications, and feedback loops will be in place with parents, community members, social services, and other stakeholders.
- Technology will be the pencil of our times: It will be that integrated, attainable, and functional.
- System-wide, improvements will be aligned; decisions will be based on precise data; and processes will be efficient and effective.
