Transfer Priority Information
Upon receipt of the application and process fee, the transfer application will be reviewed as well as the priority of transfer. Transfer priority levels are listed below:
- Program transfers (High School IB only — Leander HS and Vandegrift HS)
- Existing transfer students at the campus requested
- Incoming siblings of existing transfer students
- Students of LISD employees who work at the requested campus
- Students of LISD employees who do not work at the requested campus
Elementary and Middle School Transfers
- A transfer request must be submitted annually.
- Student transfers may be revoked for lack of academic progress, lack of attendance, and/or misconduct.
High School Transfers
- All approved high school transfers remain in effect for the duration of a student’s high school career.
Student transfers may be revoked for lack of academic progress, lack of attendance, misconduct or because the student is no longer participating in an eligible program for which the student initially transferred.
UIL Eligibility
Students transferring between high schools within Leander ISD will lose one calendar year of eligibility for sub-varsity and varsity athletics, meaning student athletes not attending their zoned high school must “sit out” of sports for one calendar year to establish eligibility. At this time, transferring students involved in all other UIL activities will be eligible immediately.
* There are extremely limited exceptions to this policy. To read them, please refer to the Student Transfer Guidelines link on the district's Athletics page or call the LISD Athletic Department with any questions at 512-570-0170.
