LISD Receives District AP Honor Roll

Leander ISD is one of 447 school districts in the U.S. and Canada being honored by the College Board with placement on the 8th Annual AP District Honor Roll. To be included, LISD had to – since 2015 – increase the number of students participating in AP while also increasing or maintaining the percentage of students earning AP Exam scores of 3 or higher.

“This is the third year in a row Leander ISD has received the AP Honor Roll accolade for significant gains in participation and performance on AP Exams,” Director of College and Career Readiness Lisa Nucci said. “I am so proud of the team responsible for the success of the AP Program, led by the Deans of Instruction and supported by our high school principals, teaching and learning staff and our talented teachers.”

LISD’s AP Program  continues to set the pace as one of the quality academic opportunities available to all students:

  • Through a course suggestion process, LISD uses data to enroll ninth-grade students in advanced courses.

  • AP teachers are provided professional learning opportunities through the College Board.

  • LISD has a growing number of teachers who have applied to and been accepted by the College Board as AP Readers to score AP exams in their subject area.

  • LISD has increased AP course offerings, adding Computer Science Principles at district high schools and Spanish Language at two middle schools.

  • LISD is one of the few central Texas districts offering the AP Capstone Program.

Leander ISD is committed to expanding the availability of AP courses among prepared and motivated students of all backgrounds.

In 2017, more than 4,000 colleges and universities around the world received AP scores for college credit, advanced placement, or both, and/or consideration in the admission process. Inclusion on the 8th Annual AP District Honor Roll is based on a review of three years of AP data, from 2015 to 2017, looking across 37 AP Exams, including world language and culture.
