The Leander ISD Council of PTAs Clothes Closet is owned and operated by the Leander ISD Council of PTAs and community volunteers. The purpose of the Clothes Closet is to provide gently-used school clothing and brand-new underwear and socks to our students residing in our school district. We have clothing for grades pre-K through the SELF 18+ Program (sizes 3T-4X for all genders). The only qualification for families to shop at the Clothes Closet is that their student reside within the Leander ISD boundaries. Our program has no income requirements and no vouchers are required.

If you have any questions, contact us at clothescloset@lisdptacouncil.com.

Volunteer Information

Volunteer Sign-Up:

We need volunteers every day that we are open for shoppers, as well as some extra days during the year to sort and help organize our store. Any community member, retiree, parent or grandparent may volunteer with us!

Sign up as a volunteer through the Leander ISD Volunteer system. LISD will perform a background check to screen our volunteers. When registering, indicate that you would like to be a Clothes Closet volunteer. Once approved, we will email volunteer opportunities, or you may view our volunteer schedule within the LISD Volunteer Opportunities Schedule.

If you are already a registered volunteer, click here to view our volunteer opportunities. Volunteers are asked to come in 30 minutes before the shop opens and stay at least 30 minutes after the shop closes, to be trained and to clean up the store before our next shift.

We love our volunteers and we hope you will have a lot of fun volunteering with us!

Students Can Volunteer, Too:

Student volunteer days are the following:

High school, middle school and elementary students are welcome. All elementary students and middle school students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or an older sibling. Students (except elementary students) must be a registered volunteer with the district. Click here to register.

Donation Guidelines

Current Donation Needs

We accept donations of gently-used clothing (in current fashion, meeting school dress code) and brand new socks and brand new underwear in bins outside of our two locations. Please review our donation guidelines.  We recycle clothing items that we are not able to use to a local veteran-owned thread recycling organization. The money earned through this recycling organization helps to fund our program. We are always in need of brand-new socks and underwear. We also have an Amazon Wishlist, and purchased items will be delivered directly to us.

**We also accept donation support through employer-sponsored volunteer hours through Benevity. Please email us if you would like to donate your volunteer hours to support our program.

How to Donate

Donations Bins are located at our two stores. The donation bin at the north location is blue and the donation bin at our south location is green. You are also always welcome to drop off donations when the store is open handing your bags or boxes directly to a volunteer. Donation reciepts are available upon request. Your local school should also have a donation bin that you can drop off clothing in. Check with your school to see if they have a bin available.

If you have a large donation or need help with your donation please contact our Clothes Closet Council Chair at clothescloset@lisdptacouncil.com
